Overview

HR managers have a vital role to play in helping organisations achieve the people management objectives that underpin overall business strategy . Yet, given the variety of day-to-day responsibilities such as managing change projects, recruitment, employee engagement initiatives, performance management, the HR Manager position is both stimulating and demanding.

'Stepping up to HR Management' will equip new and aspiring HR managers with the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are crucial for juggling multiple challenges and conflicts. Participants will receive expert tuition from the seminar leader who has extensive experience as an HR practitioner and will benefit from being able to share their experiences with colleagues in similar positions from other organisations.

Embedded learning follow-up workshop

In order to ensure that participants are able to embed the learning gained from the programme in their day-to-day activities there will be an optional follow-up workshop taking place four weeks after the main seminar.

This workshop is only available to those who attended the ‘Stepping up to HR Management’ seminar and will be a great opportunity to share experiences of how the skills gained at that event have been put into practice. The day will feature group coaching sessions whereby obstacles can be addressed and new approaches investigated.

Karen Minto

Karen Minto has many years’ experience across a range of HR and L&D functions and activities. Her current work is in both the strategic and practical areas of people management and leadership, and aligning these to business performance. Karen delivers tailored client programmes, open courses and conducts one-to-one coaching sessions.

Working with BI Worldwide Ltd, Karen has seen the company through a significant period of change. She has previously worked with BT in a number of roles, the last being in Global Services, supporting an international community.

Karen is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and has gained a variety of additional HR qualifications and psychometric accreditations.
