Issue

We worked with our client to coach Directors on their communication skills - in order to help them achieve promotion to Partner.

Our approach

We had a full understanding of the partnership process and we were briefed on the key competencies needed to become a partner. Coaches met each Director prior to the coaching to discuss strengths and weaknesses and individual development needs. A programme of coaching was then developed, usually comprising four sessions. Typically the following issues were addressed:

  • Identifying the key areas in the business case
  • Identifying possible weak areas
  • Designing a presentation to be within the time frame and covering key areas
  • Developing good communication skills
  • Designing appropriate slides
  • Developing the confidence to deal with questions
  • Looking and sounding like a partner

The outcome

Directors received positive feedback from the interview panel on their business case and perforemance. Directors achieved a 100% success rate, with all Directors being accepted into the Partnership.
