Issue

The success of our client, a global player in a web-based consultancy, depends largely on the ability of its people to communicate to its customers what value and impact their innovative ability and service can have on their customers’ business. This created a need for enhanced presentation skills training aimed at maximising the impact of key individuals in their communications with customers. Presenters must demonstrate empathy, passion and flair. They must instil and sustain in their customers a confidence in our client’s offer and brand. Throughout, presenters need to be able to influence decision-making in a positive and memorable way.

Our approach

The JSB team, Client Learning and Development specialists and the target audience contributed to the design of the one-day event. Our approach embraced five stages; research into the issues, initial design, pre-work analysis of questionnaires and delivery, follow-up and evaluation.

The course was designed to:

  • consider strategic preparation and structure
  • cover techniques for advanced delivery skills
  • provide tips to manage audiences
  • cover techniques for saying ’no’ positively and handling questions, objections and controversy

The outcome

Most of the course is taken up with practical exercises - and practising on and off camera, role-plays derived from real conferences and situations. Participants assess their own and each other’s performance and get coaching tips from the trainer.

An intensive learning experience, our consultants combine practical advice with discreet, incisive and constructive critique and guidance. They personalise help for each participant on relaxation, voice control and using visual aids. With audiovisual equipment they appraise participants’ performances, revealing personal strengths and weaknesses and facilitating improvement through penetrating tutoring and instructive demonstration.
