Issue

Our client, a global player in creative web site consultancy, operates across time-zones providing a highly responsive, first class service to customers with ever increasing demands and expectations. For a group of Senior Account Managers/Directors, Account Executives and Resource and Production Managers, our client wanted to introduce a half day programme dealing with the issues of managing stress in a productive and constructive way, tools for time management to cope with multi-tasking and managing multiple work-streams, whilst boosting scope for profitability.

Our approach

The JSB team, Client Learning and Development team and the target audience provided input to design the course. Our approach included 5 stages: research into the company and its issues, initial design, pre-course work, delivery, follow-up and evaluation.

The course was designed to:

  • be interactive and participative
  • involve plenary and break-out sessions
  • include team and individual activities
  • enable self-assessment and group discussion
  • use role plays and case studies looking at real client situations
  • problem-solve – taking real problems/obstacles and finding practical solutions  

The outcome

Participants become involved in a challenging learning experience involving reflection, discussion and action. Each individual can explore their life/work balance, work out their personal approach to setting priorities, their individual sources of pressure and stress and the distinct contribution each can make to company profitability and success. They learn how to take control, set priorities, understand their own time management profile and the impact of their personal patterns of behaviour; they explore time management and planning tools, how to set objectives to maximise profitable time, how to be assertive and commercially aware in protecting profits and margins and avoiding loss of profit at key moments in the client journey. They leave the course with their personal, highly practical actions which are immediately transferable to the workplace, together with a firm basis for continual development of time management skills.
