Case Studies

Leading and Managing People, Projects and Performance

Benefits

  • Learn to use a range of tools and techniques for planning and controlling projects
  • Develop action plans to improving project management

Issue

Our client was sourcing a training programme which would develop participants` project management skills - so that they would be confident of achieving a successful outcome to their projects.  The aim was to provide participants with a project management `toolkit` to include tools and techniques for project set up, planning and delivery as well as project closedown.  Our client was keen that the development should include action planning by each participant.

Our approach

We familiarised ourselves with the project methodology in use by the target audience/organisation, eliciting feedback from participants prior to delivery of the programme.  Individual issues and concerns were  addressed within the course content and we ensured that the exercises and case studies related to live projects.  Our approach was very practical and participative - relationships were strengthened as participants worked in teams over the course of the two day programme.

The outcome

The programme was so successful that we were asked to roll it out to another department within the business.  Participants felt that, due to the highly practical approach, they could immediately transfer their learning back to the working place and to `live` projects.  Via this programme, our consultant built a genuine rapport with the group and the organisation which has meant that we have been invited to work with the client to deliver similar and related training programmes.
