"Whilst attending a 2-day JSB employment law update event I noticed the Advanced Certificate in Employment Law brochure and it seemed the most in-depth employment law course for non-lawyers that I had come across. I chose JSB for the really detailed information promised by the advertising literature and that was delivered upon in practice.
The tutor’s style of training suited me – a high level of detail, opportunities for questions and debate; backed up by written material. Access to my Personal Tutor was essential at crunch times, for example in the selection and submission of the assignment and preparation for the mock and final exams. Since completing the programme I am able to confidently refer to the source of the law in relation to whatever issue arises – being able to find my way round Butterworth’s Handbook has been a revelation! More importantly, I have been able to submit five responses to Employment Tribunal claims without recourse to a solicitor – three of these have been settled via COT 3.
Newcastle College has benefited because of the reduced legal costs – I attended a case management discussion without legal support last week and will be doing the same in two week’s time. So the savings keep on coming.
