Issue
Our client identified a need for its managers to acquire more knowledge of employment law and best practice as they assumed greater responsibility for staff line management. The training had to have a very clear practical focus and it also needed to complement existing company handbook.
Our approach
We designed a lively and interactive modular training programme comprising four half-day manuals: Controlling Absence, Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures, Dismissal Law and Practice, Discrimination and Equal Opportunities. In order to maximise the value of training budget spend, modules were run back to back for different groups on the same day.
The outcome
By the end of module four, managers were able to identify essential aspects of employment law, understand the practical implications of how the law is applied, identify current best practice in employment law and enhance their staff management skills in the context of the developing employment law environment. The training was extended to other UK divisions.
