Case Studies

Managing within the Law

Benefits

  • Be able to identify current best practice in employment law
  • Understand the practical implications of how the law is applied

Issue

Our client provides retail, business and corporate banking, and insurance and investment services through in the UK and internationally. We were asked to design and deliver a series of half-day workshops to provide managers with an understanding of the key elements of employment law. We provide regular updates for our client.

Our approach

Our trainer maximises opportunity for questions and discussion. Participants consider the legal and practical issues arising from relevant scenarios and discuss how such matters should be handled to avoid litigation.

Case studies are used at various points in the programme, to summarise key learning objectives and to consider the legal consequences of a number of employment law issues. Emphasis is on practical handling and avoidance of litigation, in line with staff policies and procedures.

The outcome

Managers are provided with a good understanding of key elements of employment law, relevant to their day to day responsibilities, in the areas of dismissal, discrimination and equal opportunities. They gain a broad overview of UK employment law and the implications for team management. They also learn about potential pitfalls and are provided with practical skills which they can implement immediately back in the workplace.
