House of Lords reception for recent ACEL Graduates
News item added 11th December 2007

Seven HR professionals, who successfully completed JSB’s Advanced Certificate in Employment Law in May 2007, were last week treated to tea at the House of Lords whilst being presented with their certificates.
The tea was hosted by Lord Janner of Braunstone QC, a distinguished lecturer, writer and broadcaster. Lord Janner was Member of Parliament for Leicester West for 27 years, before his retirement from the Commons shortly before the General Election in 1997. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and former Chairman of the House of Commons Select Committee on Employment.
Those in attendance completed the ACEL in the summer and have now taken their employment law knowledge and expertise to a higher level. One of the graduates, June Smith from Newcastle College, commented: "Completing the ACEL has already enabled me to save my employer several thousand pounds in solicitor fees. The ACEL qualification is the single most useful course I have ever studied for."
