A new programme in Organisational Gestalt: putting people first
News item added 11th June 2008

Increasingly, businesses from a variety of sectors are benefiting from a Gestaltist assessment of the working relationships within their organisation. Gestalt, a psychological theory of mind, brings a perspective that can enable directors, managers and consultants to work more powerfully with each other, their teams and their clients. This approach delivers improved customer, supplier and interpersonal relationships. Furthermore, it provides a range of change management strategies and the personal capability to manage change in dynamic conditions. It delivers improved efficiency and performance for individuals, making them more effective in their intervention by focussing energy and enhancing presence to improve contact and connection.

Gestaltists at JSB Training and Development recognise that people are at the heart of all organisational activity. Gestalt offers a unique and powerful way of understanding and working with people. It links the complexity of the human dimension directly with organisational performance.

JSB’s new one-day seminar, Organisational Gestalt, introduces the foundations of Gestalt in organisational development – and how these can be used to improve and enhance working relationships. This seminar, led by Diane Hodgson and Joy Gleeson, presents a unique experiential understanding of Gestalt theory applied directly for long-term business benefit. Diane Hodgson comments: “We describe and provide experiences of meaningful dialogue, leading to authentic exchanges and deeper understanding. We also examine and experience the use and application of phenomenology: the practice of naming and working with current phenomena to understand what’s happening at organisation and individual levels. We look at how these phenomena contribute to support, or undermine, organisational development”.

The seminar also explores the Gestalt concept of Field Theory related to organisational development. Field Theory can help us understand more about the ‘environment’ or the context in which the organisation exists: what positive forces, and what meaningful mechanisms are being utilised, or ignored, to the benefit or detriment of the business. The seminar’s experiential focus will also introduce people to experimentation: this allows people to envisage and/or try new ways of behaving or responding with no predicted outcome. ________________________________________________________________________
