Corporate Manslaughter
News item added 22nd July 2008

The new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act is now in force. By removing the requirement of a 'controlling mind or will' for an offence to occur, it means the scope for prosecution has been widened and HR departments must respond to these changes. Failing to address effectively the issue of health and safety within the workplace and carry out continued risk assessment could lead to serious unwanted implications for employers - it is essential that HR review their policies and procedures and get to grips with the new law to help prevent unwanted costly sanctions in their organisation.
