Agency Workers: Law and HR Best Practice1-day conference: 28 January 2009
Using agency workers within your business has numerous advantages – they're flexible, cost effective, can be hired for specific projects or simply to fill a short-term gap. However, is the use of the temp worker now being considered a full-time headache?
The Agency Workers Directive has been passed by the European Parliament today – giving temporary workers in the UK equal rights to permanent staff after 12 weeks of employment. This means that agency workers will receive the same pay and basic working conditions after 12 weeks - something that HR will have to make sure they closely monitor.
Take advantage of this one-day conference which will provide you with a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive and clear understanding of the rules surrounding the use of agency workers and identify the key challenges for HR and resourcing specialists. And, hear a keynote presentation from newly appointed Chief Executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), Kevin Green, on the future of temporary labour in the current economic climate in the UK.
Conference Highlights:
- A trade union perspective of what the impact of the Agency Workers Directive will be - by the TUC
- Practical pointers to avoid implied contracts and clarification of employment status by leading law firm, Charles Russell
- Take away key learning to apply directly to your workplace from an HR case study on optimising the use of temporary labour from NHS Professionals and London Borough of Towers Hamlets and PCT
- Explore the relationship between the end user and the supplier, including the respective responsibilities of both employer and agency from ATSCo
- Take advantage of our interactive panel session addressing the practical issues in this challenging and complicated area and clarify any areas of uncertainty
