Employment Law Update - Law on the Road™
Winston Brown LLB is a member of JSB’s Employment Law Faculty specialising in employment law and is a practising Solicitor. He is also a Prince II qualified Project Manager.
Winston worked as a prosecutions lawyer for HM Customs and Excise before supervising the Employment Unit at Lewisham Law Centre for seven years. He is now a senior lawyer in local government with extensive advocacy and representation experience in employment tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and higher courts. Winston is Lead Professional for Solicitors in Local Government, in which capacity he leads on and responds to employment law issues, as they impact on local government.
Winston has designed and delivered CPD accredited training programmes in a variety of employment law areas in both public and private sectors.
Penny Macmillan MA Chartered FCIPD is a Solicitor and has for many years specialised in employment law, with particular experience of: TUPE, unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and drafting employment contracts, policies, procedures and handbooks. She is former Head of the Legal Department at The Race Equality Centre.
Before qualifying as a lawyer, Penny held positions as a Group Personnel Manager for a health authority; Employee Relations Manager for a major retailer; and Personnel and Training Manager for a large catering services company. Penny is equally well qualified and experienced as a management trainer, HR specialist and lawyer. She delivers workshops and seminars on a wide range of employment law and best practice subjects and is a personal tutor on JSB’s Advanced Certificate in Employment Law (ACEL).

Dermot Scully is a senior member of JSB’s Employment Law Faculty and a practising solicitor specialising in employment law.
Having studied law at Trinity College, Dublin, Dermot qualified as a solicitor first in Ireland and then two years later in England and Wales. Dermot regularly trains and presents to a wide variety of JSB clients across all sectors. His entertaining and instructive style has made him a firm favourite with a large number of JSB`s corporate clients. He has also written many articles on a range of employment law issues.
